Homi Jehangir Bhabha (1909–1966) was a pioneering Indian nuclear physicist who laid the foundation of India’s nuclear research and energy development. He was the founding director of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) and the Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay (now Bhabha Atomic Research Centre). His vision and leadership were instrumental in advancing India’s nuclear science and technology. Bhabha received the Adams Prize (1942) and the Padma Bhushan (1954), and was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Physics multiple times. He is remembered as the architect of India’s atomic energy programme
